Osbornes' 50th anniversary
Verlon and Betty Osborne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday with family. The gathering took place at the home of daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Joe Newton in Locust Grove.
Mr. Osborne is the son of the late Robey Clay and Iveda Osborne of Spotsylvania County. Mrs. Osborne is the daughter of Lottie Mae Fagan of Stafford County and the late Steward Fagan.
Verlon retired from A&P and then worked at Four Winds Golf Course. He is an avid golfer and was known as "Whip" Osborne on the softball field.
Betty retired as a devoted nurse from the Fredericksburg Nursing Home where she shared her loving touch with many people in need. She is very involved in raising her grandchildren, which is a family tradition started by her grandmother Emma Loving.
The Osbornes were married on November 7, 1959, by the Rev. Ashley at the home of Verlon's late brother, David, and his loving wife, Joyce, who was able to attend the celebration this Saturday.
"The promise of commitment you made to each other 50 years ago is a treasure to behold on your golden anniversary.
With all our love, Kelly, Shawn and Leigh Anne."
