Mr. and Mrs. Kevin McConnell of Stafford are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Lieutenant (junior grade) Raymond S.J. McConnell, to Jessica A. Whiteman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Whiteman of Stafford.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Mountain View High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of North Stafford High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Longwood University, Farmville, Va. He is now serving as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN-65), home ported in Norfolk, Va.

A spring 2013 wedding is planned.
