The Stafford Regional Choral Society performed "America in Song: A Patriotic Tribute" July 1 at Colonial Forge High School. It was a success due to Barbara Perry and all the dedicated members. This concert was a community event to inspire us all to take pride in our country. We welcomed anyone to come and sing.

The highlight of this concert was when we sang "Armed Forces Salute." The house lights went up, and as we sang each service song we asked members of the armed services to stand. It was an emotional sight to see the faces of all those individuals standing with pride and honor at having served the U.S. The contemporary patriotic song by Lee Greenwood, "God Bless the U.S.A.," says it all:

I am proud to be an American, where at least I know I am free

And I won't forget the men who died and gave that right to me.

And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land. God bless the U.S.A.

This Independence Day, get out there and show how proud you are, stand tall, hang an American flag outside your home, listen to patriotic music. Let everyone know how proud you are to be an American and how much you appreciate your freedom.
