Let public vote on Chancellorsville battlefield project
Date published: 9/16/2002
Many opinions have been expressed about the proposed development of 800 acres of the Chancellorsville battlefield, and certainly we have not heard all there is to hear about this project.
But if history repeats itself, the final decision on this development will be made solely by the seven men and women who sit on the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors.
The Dogwood Development Group project that includes 2,350 new homes will shape the quality of life for all present and future Spotsylvanians who will utilize the State Route 3 corridor, who will drink Spotsylvania public water or whose children will attend Spotsylvania County schools.
Would it not make sense for the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors to place this issue on the ballot for all Spotsylvanians to collectively decide what is best for our future?
