Synagogue incident investigated for sniper connection
WFLS News Date published: 10/28/2002 (Spokane, Washington-AP) -- Police in Washington state are looking into whether a May shooting at a Seattle synagogue can be linked to sniper suspect John Allen Muhammad. Police previously said evidence from a "recent Seattle homicide" was being examined at a state crime lab. But State Patrol spokesman Captain Glenn Kramer said later today that further investigation showed the evidence was actually from the synagogue shooting. Kramer had no additional details, and says the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is the lead investigating agency. Evidence from a February homicide in Tacoma, where Muhammad used to live, also has been sent to a state crime lab. In that killing, 21-year-old Keenya Cook was shot in the face when she opened the door to her home. A Tacoma police spokesman has said Cook's family recognized Muhammad from news photos and called authorities.
