November 18, 2002 12:00 am

The Associated Press,
(Fairfax, Virginia-AP) -- The trial for a Falls Church man accused of lying to police during the sniper investigation has been postponed until next month.

A Fairfax County judge this morning continued the trial of Matthew Dowdy until December 30th.

According to prosecutors, Dowdy claimed he witnessed the October 14th shooting of an FBI analyst in a Home Depot parking lot.

Prosecutors say Dowdy told police the shooter was driving a cream-colored minivan and stood outside the vehicle as he shot 47-year-old Linda Franklin of Arlington. A video camera at the store later showed Dowdy was inside the store when the shooting

occurred.

Dowdy is charged with making a false report to police. He remains in custody, and is being held on $75,000 bail.
