Spotsy tourism would be hurt by fire station placement
Spotsy tourism would be hurt by fire station placement

I write on behalf of the Rappahannock Valley Civil War Round Table's 130 members to express our strong opposition to the placement of the new proposed fire-and-rescue complex in front of the Confederate Cemetery on State Route 208.
If such a complex is built on this site, the visual impact of the cemetery to tourists coming into the courthouse area will be markedly diminished, thereby negatively impacting both the quiet dignity and respect such hallowed ground deserves, and the county's tourism potential.
We most respectfully request that this site be converted into an open space such as a park, thus enhancing both the history and the economic potential of the area, and that an alternative site for the fire-and-rescue complex be found.
