A heavenly chorus sang at Colonial Forge High, too

December 20, 2003 1:10 am

We were given a wonderful Christmas present on Dec. 14.

The Stafford Regional Choral Society, with members from Stafford, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and King George, and directed by Barbara Perry, presented selections from Handel's "Messiah" along with some other Christmas music in the Colonial Forge High School auditorium.

The choir was supported and accompanied by an assembly of professional musicians who formed a wonderfully sounding orchestra, and by "The Glory Ringers," a hand bell choir from St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stafford.

The talent, dedication, and hard work presented to us was without equal, and those who missed the performance can't imagine the sound of music that still reverberates in my heart. I would like to assure the population of our area that angels were listening and taking notes to better improve their own performances.

I have difficulty coming up with words that can convey with justice the excellence of the performance.

The soloists were perfectly suited to the pieces they sang, and when the choir sang, it was with one voice. The harmony, crescendos, timing, and the tempo of each piece seemed to me to flow as effortlessly and as smoothly as night turns to day.

The stage was packed, and for coaxing, coaching, directing, coordinating, and presenting to us that wonderful performance, Barbara Perry made it seem easy, and as natural as breathing. I thank them all for a wonderful evening.
