Save Stafford's pig ["Big pig makes county grunt," Feb. 9].
Don't our county officials have better things to do with our tax money than waste time harassing the business people of the county?
The supervisors of the county are in office to provide a service to the people who live here. Many residents want the pig and see nothing offensive about it.
It sure looks better than the empty building that sat there for so long pumping no money into the county from sales.
At least we have a good businessman there trying to make a go of it, and he doesn't need harassment.
The county is not being fair. The pig is not a sign unless something is written on it. If this is the county rule, then the big KFC bucket just up the road should have been removed years ago.
There are a lot more ugly signs going up on State Route 610 right in sight of the pig.
I propose a solution to Rick Ivey, the restaurant owner--vent your kitchen exhaust through the ceiling, up the pig's leg and out its rear end. Then it'll be a functional part of the building and not subject to existing rules.
This county needs to support our new businesses starting right now.
