Stafford Regional Choral Society put on a great show

May 13, 2005 1:06 am

We would like to thank the Stafford Regional Choral Society, Barbara Perry, Toni Crowder, and Kevin Perry for one of the most moving and wonderful evenings we have enjoyed in a long time.

The soloists, Toni Crowder and Kevin Perry, were outstanding. A person didn't need to understand Italian to hear the intense emotions in their voices.

And it was such a treat to hear other choir members sing solos and duets so beautifully. Their accompanist knew how to bring out the nuances in the music.

The all-volunteer choir--adults and teenagers from local schools--was excellent. What a joy to see young people singing opera with so much understanding. One could, literally, get lost in the music.

It was enjoyable to see the teenagers--smiling, gracious, polite, and sincere--mingling with the guests at the fund-raiser.

Director Barbara Perry deserves kudos for her ability to inspire the choir to such heights of musical elan. Barbara gives them the background of what the music is about so they can better understand the motive.

She fosters an environment where music is cherished, talent is nurtured, and egos are left at the door. All to bring music--all kinds of music--to our area.

Local music teachers encourage their students to participate in the choir, furthering these young people's education and exposure to culture.

Stafford Regional Choral Society, please don't stop what you are doing. Keep bringing your love of music and the myriad varieties of music to Stafford. You are fantastic.
