Harold Wood

Harold C. "Hal" Wood Sr. of Fairfax entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2005. He was the widower of Mary Frieda Phillips Wood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, West Ashley Chapel, Charleston, S.C., at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31. Entombment will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Harold was born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., Aug. 4, 1911, the son of Charles D. Wood and Anna May Wood Deyoe.

He was a member of Harbor View Presbyterian Church and retired from the federal government. He was a member of the USCG Auxiliary, Unit 12-8, Friendship Lodge 9, Trident Good Sam's Club, and Wappoo Wigglers Square Dancing Club. He was a Scout leader for many years, a church elder and a real estate agent.

Surviving are two sons, Harold C. "Hal" Wood Jr. and his wife, Lora, of Fredericksburg, and Harlen P. "Woody" Wood Sr. and his wife, Joyce, of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Barbara Wood Roach and her husband, David, of Falls Church; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harold and Freda Wood Memorial Fund, c/o Harbor View Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Road, James Island, S.C. 29412.
