I just read the article "Will local man win a million?" [Nov. 12]. I am very happy that Jamie King will be donating some of this money to charity, but the real concern is about this product and false impressions it may create.

Mr. King's symptoms appear to be the same as a person with obstructive sleep apnea. Has Mr. King been evaluated with a polysomnography test (sleep study) and had sleep apnea ruled out?

I noticed on the Snore Stop Web site that there are no endorsements from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, National Sleep Foundation, or Association of Polysomnography Technologists.

Chronic snoring is a strong indicator of sleep apnea, where a person stops breathing throughout the night.

What Mr. King is doing is noble, but I urge him and others who may be experiencing loud snoring, stopped breathing, fatigue, and irritability to seek the advice of a physician before starting these over-the-counter "cures."
