Tavern dispute leads to couple's arrest
Two arrested following a disturbance at the East Davis Street Tavern in Culpeper.

Witnesses told police it was an assault. The man and woman involved said it was not.

Both, however, ended up being arrested following a disturbance at the East Davis Street Tavern.

Town police officers and one state trooper were dispatched to the sports bar about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Two witnesses told officers Heather Myers had been assaulted by Richard Wayne Green, her live-in boyfriend, and had marks on her face, said police Capt. Ricky Pinksaw.

According to the police report, no marks were found on Myers' face and she told officers nothing had happened.

At some point during the incident, Green took off on foot and was chased down by police, Pinksaw said.

As the 27-year-old Green was being apprehended, police accused Myers of charging the officers. Myers, 22, was then arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, Pinksaw said.

Green is accused of kicking the right rear window out of a police cruiser after he was arrested and placed in the back seat, Pinksaw said.

Green was held without bond on charges of domestic assault, being drunk in public and destruction of town property.
