Mary Elizabeth McClanahan Isgrig, 84, of Fredericksburg passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Heartfields Assisted Living in Stafford County.

Mary Elizabeth was born Jan. 1, 1921, and raised in Paris, Ky. She was a survivor of the Depression era and worked with the American Red Cross during World War II. Her marriage to her high school sweetheart resulted in a 61-year union and three children.

In addition to her husband and children, her passions included dancing, singing, art, jewelry and conversing with people.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Isgrig and her husband, Robert Kash, of Ruther Glen; a brother-in-law, David Isgrig and his wife, Ruby, of Paris; two nieces, Wilma Hammons and her husband, Tom, and their daughter, Katie, of Eustis, Fla., and Cynthia Brill of Lincoln, Neb.; two nephews, Peter Brill and his wife, Bianca, of Coos Bay, Ore., and Roger Brill of Cynthiana, Ky., and his sons, Quentin and Andrew.

Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Isgrig; a daughter, Edith Isgrig; a son, Dan Isgrig III; and a sister, Edith Mefford.

Following cremation, her ashes will be interred in Paris Cemetery in Paris.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a favorite charity.
