![]() Trains have to go 20 mph slower this afternoon. Date published: 3/10/2006 WASHINGTON (AP) - Hard to believe, but there's a downside to this gorgeous weather, and it's going to impact Virginia Railway Express passengers. Freight operator CSX is slapping heat restrictions on trains from now until 7 p.m. That means VRE trains have to go 20-miles-an-hour slower than normal. Mostly, this affects the Fredericksburg Line, where delays could be up to 20-minutes. On the Manassas Line, the impact is only between Union Station and Alexandria, so VRE says delays will be minimal.
