Why are the media quiet on Webb's gaffe?

Suddenly, pollsters have something new to chew on regarding voter reaction to the use of certain words by the respective candidates for the U.S. Senate in Virginia.
First, Sen. Allen expressed, in an off-handed manner, the word "macaca," which is quite unknown to most Americans, perhaps including the senator himself.
The media concluded, in no uncertain terms, that his campaign has taken a big hit, particularly among minority voters.
Now enter Mr. Webb and his purposeful use of the easily recognized, catchy term "horny women" ["Military women criticize Webb," Sept. 14].
May we assume that the media now finds the Webb campaign in deep trouble with the mostly female voting majority?
If so, what does the science of mathematics help pollsters tell us, plus or minus umpteen percent, about the senatorial race in Virginia?
