Our battlefields are a remarkable teaching tool

Preservation of the remaining 74-acre portion of the Chancellorsville battlefield is important for all residents.

Thus the upcoming vote by the Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors represents a critical decision that can have far-reaching consequences.

Many of these supervisors were engaged (along with many of us county residents) in our first battle to save the Chancellorsville battlefield.

I think it is important now for these same supervisors to go all the way and finish for all time the preservation of this hallowed ground.

Let's get the matter settled so we can begin developing this area to be a teaching tool for future generations--so they can understand what took place, and where it took place, in our country's history.
