Former PLO member to speak at K.G. church

As a young member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Walid Shoebat participated in acts of violence against Jews in Israel.

Today and tomorrow, the self-described former terrorist will share his journey "from hate to love" at public lectures at Taber-nacle Baptist Church in King George County.

Shoebat, who converted to Christianity after studying Jewish and Christian theology, has toured the United States proclaiming his support of Israel and his desire for a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The U.S. resident has appeared on CNN, Fox News Channel and other major media outlets.

The Rev. Sherman Davis, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, said he invited members of Beth Sholom Temple, the Fredericksburg area's only synagogue, to the free event.

Rabbi Devorah Lynn said earlier this week that she wasn't sure if she could attend, but hopes others in the Jewish community can.
