Culpeper police seek break-in suspect
The Culpeper Town Police Department is seeking the public's help in apprehending the man who broke into Mosby Meadow Market about 1 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect, a black male believed to be between the ages of 16 and 26, smashed the glass on the front door to get inside the North Main Street convenience store, according to Sgt. J.C. Welch.
The man is described as being between 5-5 and 5-10 and has a light build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The store was closed at the time of the break-in, Welch said. The man stole several unspecified items.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Marcus Taylor at 540/727-3430 or Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300.
Christmas Eve visitor wasn't Santa Claus
A man living in the 100 block of King Edward Street in Culpeper came home on Christmas Eve to find a strange man in his house.
And the visitor wasn't Santa Claus.
Instead the man confronted a Hispanic male wearing gray sweatpants, a fleece pullover shirt and rubber work-style boots, according to Sgt. J.C. Welch of the Culpeper town police.
The intruder handed the homeowner an identification card, then ran out the door--taking a wallet and its contents, Welch said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dan Art at 540/727-3430 or Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300.
