Nicole Woodell and Rachel Yorio are Spotsylvania High School's co-valedictorians, and Jessica Davis is salutatorian, for 2007.
Rachel Yorio is the daughter of Elizabeth and Jeffrey Yorio. She was a member of Commonwealth Governor's School, earning an advanced-studies diploma as well as seals for Community Service, Excellence in Civics Education and State Governor's and Spotsylvania County Schools Seal of Academic Excellence. She has earned the President's Education Award as well as the Early College Scholars. She is a Distinguished Honor Graduate and a member of the National Honor Society.
Rachel earned a perfect-score award in the English Reading SOL, was on the honor roll and earned an academic letter all four years.
She was a member of the Environmental Team, Latin Club, SCA and FBLA. She compiled more than 300 hours of community service through participation in vacation Bible school, Multiple Sclerosis Walk, Carriage Hill Nursing Home and Academy of Ballet.
She will attend the University of Virginia in the fall, and plans to major in foreign affairs.
Nicole Woodell is the daughter of Elizabeth and Charles Woodell. She is a Distinguished Honor Graduate, earning an advanced-studies diploma as well as seals in Community Service, Excellence in Civics Education, State Governor's, and Spotsylvania County Schools Seal of Academic Excellence. She has earned the President's Education Award and Early College Scholars.
Nicole was an AP Scholar with honor as a senior, receiving advanced placement in World History, U.S. History, Psychology, Studio Art Drawing and Design, Government and Calculus. She received advanced credit in English, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Algebra II. She was on the honor roll and earned an academic letter and bar all four years. Nicole was also named to "Who's Who Among American High School Students" and the National Society of High School Scholars.
She was a member of the Environmental Club, French Club and FFA, president of the National Art Honor Society and a freshman mentor.
While participating in all of these activities she also held jobs at Chick-fil-A and Domino's Pizza.
Nicole will attend the University of Mary Washington in the fall, where she plans to major in international affairs and political science.
Jessica Davis is the daughter of Sarah and William Davis. As a freshman, she received Honorable Mention in the PTSA Reflections Contest. She also received an academic letter and bar in grades 10-12, and was named to "Who's Who in High School Students" in grades 10 and 11. She is an AP Scholar with honor as a senior, receiving advanced placement in World History, U.S. History, Psychology, Studio Art, Drawing and Design, Government and Calculus. She received advanced credit in English, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Algebra II. She received an Advanced Studies Diploma with the Governor's Seal, Community Service Seal, Seal of Academic Excellence, President's Education Award, Career and Technical Education Seal, and Excellence in Civics Education Seal.
Jessica held leadership positions as president of both the National Art Honor Society and Technology Student Association. She was a member of the Academic Team, Environmental Club, French Club, Vex Robotics and Math Club, and was a freshman mentor and Virginia Math League participant.
She accumulated more than 150 hours of community service with involvement as a freshman mentor and library aide, and participation in the community art mural and Spotsy Fest. She also worked 25-30 hours a week as a team leader at Chick-fil-A.
Jessica will attend the University of Mary Washington in the fall to study biology with a concentration in pre-med.
