O'Connor wins honorfrom USEF

HERE ARE A few announcements to bring you up to date on state and national equine affairs:

The Plains resident David O'Connor, president of the United States Equestrian Federation, was presented with the 2007 Equine Industry Vision Award in Albuquerque, N.M., last week at the 2007 American Horse Publication's seminar.

Last Saturday, the Virginia Horse Center and Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center hosted a grand opening ceremony for the new therapeutic riding and educational facility. The VHC Foundation recognized the efforts of Lethia Hammond, the VHC's director of public affairs, by naming the facility for her.

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has named the Eventing High Performance list of horse/rider combinations. These horse/rider combinations will be invited to participate in training sessions held at various locations and will be conducted by USEF Three Day Coach Captain Mark Phillips.

The members of Squad A are: Kristin Bachman/ Gryffindor; Stephen Bradley/From; Heidi White Carty/Northern Spy; Phillip Dutton with Connaught, Truluck and The Foreman; Gina Miles/McKinlaigh; Bonnie Mosser/Merloch; Karen O'Connor/Theodore; Kim Severson/Winsome Adante; and Amy Tryon/Poggio II.

Squad B consists of: Darren Chiacchia with Better I Do It and Windfall; Will Coleman/Icarus; Mara Dean/Henley; Jonathan Holling/Direct Merger; Sara Mittleider/El Primero; Clark Montgomery/Up Spirit; B. Mosser/Close the Deal; K. O'Connor/ Allstar; and K. Severson/Tipperary Liadhnan.
