Germanna Community College will offer classes in Caroline County for the first time this fall.
U.S. history, English composition and student development--all general education requirements--will be available at the Caroline Public Library in Bowling Green starting in August.
Bill Fiege, dean of instruction at the Fredericksburg campus, said students can take classes at any location.
"If you take classes in Caroline, you're not locked into Caroline," he said.
The goal is to make college courses more available to students in Caroline, Fiege said. It's also a step toward a possible Caroline campus.
"We know that Caroline County is growing and our student population from Caroline is growing, and we'd like to offer the opportunity for them to take classes a little closer to home," Fiege said.
For the past year, Germanna also has been offering classes at North Stafford High School, and this fall the college is adding courses at that location.
American literature, U.S. history, pre-calculus, student development, principals of humanities and English composition will be offered in North Stafford.
Onsite registration isn't available for the Caroline or North Stafford classes, but students can register online or by calling the admissions office. On-campus registration is open now at the Culpeper, Locust Grove and Fredericksburg campuses and fall classes start Aug. 22.
