Exposing a bit too much of the offense?

DEAR REDSKINS fans,

Ever have that weird dream where you show up to work in your underwear? Uh, yeah, me neither. Hmmph, stupid dreams.

Anyway, for Redskins tight end Chris Cooley and wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, it's all quite real. For some reason, the two prefer to practice in their spandex-style boxers instead of their long, curtain-like mesh shorts. They even roll them up when practice starts.

Cooley and Lloyd have been doing this for a while, and it draws all kinds of comments from the fans, like, "Those dudes aren't wearing any shorts!"

But I'm not concerned about Cooley and Lloyd and their attention-seeking style. I'm concerned about the defensive backs that have to play against them.

"I don't know whether to cover them or tip them, because I don't know if they're stripping or playing football," cornerback Carlos Rogers explained. "My job is to cover them no matter what they're wearing, but if they come out with anything less than they have now, I'll be on the other side of the field."

I asked Carlos what his friends back home would say if they saw him tackling Cooley. I mean, that can't be good for street cred.

"We always give each other a hard time about everything back home," Rogers said, "so imagine if they catch me tackling somebody with no shorts on."

Maybe it should be called under-where instead of underwear, as in, it should be under where your shorts are. But Cooley and Lloyd don't seem fazed.

Now we'll have to see if this unusual fashion trend catches on. Hopefully it will be brief, pun intended. But Redskins fans love to be like their Redskins. So if Jimmy in the next cubicle down from you is pant-less this morning, at least you'll know you share a favorite football team.

Will write more soon,

P.S.--Big lightning bolt struck about 20 feet outside the hotel room today. Our photographer was napping, and it scared the heck out of him. Next time he falls asleep, I'm going to yell "Bam!" and see what he does. Hmm, I think he just dozed off. Gotta go
