Sheriff Smith stays upbeat, even if signs come down
Over the past several weeks, I've noticed election signs for Spotsylvania County Sheriff Howard Smith go up and then disappear. At the same time, I see signs for his opponent, Jerry Tolson, appear and never move. I have also noticed Smith signs that had been vandalized.
I find it interesting that in a race between two law-enforcement professionals, one set of ads is unscathed and one set is frequently damaged or removed.
I think it's also interesting that while the candidate who is not having a signage problem is running a negative campaign, the candidate with signage losses remains positive and upbeat.
These signs are expensive to produce and require the dedication of supporters for their posting. I think if my signs were regularly damaged and came up missing, I would be a lot more negative and upset, yet Sheriff Smith stays upbeat and positive.
Maybe that is a representation of the character of Sheriff Smith: Stay upbeat and positive although faced with negativity, and don't let those who would undermine you drag you to that level.

About the sign removals. The people who are removing signs and trashing them are landscaping crews. I have seen them do this and they are being impartial about it. Signs that seem like they stay are ones that were replaced. It doesn't matter what candiddate the signs belonged to There is no negative campaigning. Signs are not to be placed on County-owned properties or private property without permission and the property owner has every right to remove it if it is mis-placed.

You need to quit talking about Post Oak when your comments are filled with stupid, misinformed statements on the Moon Spa. Did you know that you can be separated from a spouse, and not be single? Imagine that. Just like you can live in Spots. and have a Fredericksburg address. Did the light bulb go on?

Listen folks, the bottom line is the Moon Spa incident made Spotsylvania County the laughingstock of the nation. Larry King and Jay Leno made jokes at our expense on national TV. Even if it isn't against the law to receive oral sex, where is common sense and discretion when it comes to investigating anything? Do you want a sheriff that can not even exercise a little common sense and then when confronted instead of admitting to making an error in judgement, he lies and covers it up? I say nooooooooooooo

First of all, I am intelligent so I don't have to try to impress you or anyone else. Check the court records and you will find the detective did not even file for divorce until May 6, 2006. Who's the fool now!!!! Stop believing all the hype from the Sheriff , it won't help you keep your job. Who's the dummy. Tolson hasn't even said a word about the Moon Spa....yet. He will have all the back up documents to show Smith for what he is..... a pinnochio.

No Smith is the one who twisted the truth. Please show me the law that allows a law enforcement officer to receive and perform oral sex. As far as lying goes, none of the detectives involved were single. Facts are facts and there are documents to support what I am saying. Now who is the malicious, self-serving story teller. Smith is the one misleading the public and maybe even his staff.
