Richard M. Almand
Richard Maxwell "Dick" Almand, 74, of Fredericksburg died Friday, Oct. 5, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was a United States Navy veteran and retired as a systems engineer from Titan Corp. Mr. Almand was a member of the Fredericksburg Moose Lodge.
Dick was a beloved father, mentor and friend. He is survived by his four children, Bonni Chapman and her husband, Christopher, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Richard Preston and his wife, Sally, of Houston, Kimberley Stearns and her fiance, David Schiltz, of Dublin, Ohio, and Heather Goldberg and her husband, Brad, of Fredericksburg; two grandsons, Cameron Chapman and Matthew Goldberg; one brother, Charlie Almand; and one sister, Louise Stennes, both of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate of 27 years, Linda D. Almand, who died in August 2004.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Entombment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home.
