FROM STAFF REPORTS
Osbourn Park got 36 points from its bench--including 14 by reserve center Andrew Brookins--and romped to an 81-45 victory over Liberty in a Cedar Run District tiebreaker game last night.
Liberty, which tied with OP and Culpeper for the regular-season title, hung with the Yellow Jackets for three quarters but faded in the final period, when the Eagles were outscored 28-5.
David Lee and Brad Thiesing led the Eagles with 12 points each with Stephen Massi netting 11.
Liberty played without star forward Stefawn Ross who did not dress because of a high ankle sprain.
Without Ross, the smaller Eagles, who only led briefly early in the second quarter, were no match for Brookins and 6-6 Nelson Ward inside.
Brookins scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as Osbourn Park put the game away.
Calvin Croskey led the Yellow Jackets with 17 while Marcus Brooks contributed 15. Wynton Wilson was also in double figures for Osbourn Park with 10 off the bench.
Tonight Osbourn Park will play Culpeper at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas in a game that will decide the Cedar Run District's top tournament seed and also who gets an automatic berth in the regionals.
Culpeper, Osbourn Park and Liberty all finished the regular season with 10-4 district marks.
The Cedar Run tournament begins Monday. The top four schools will host first round games with the semis and finals at Stonewall Jackson.
