Primmer House Road--a fairy tale gone bad?

Primmer House Road--a fairy tale gone bad?

Come see Stafford County's latest engineering monument before it is turned into the biggest sidewalk in Virginia ["Stafford shortcut remains on hold," March 27].

Witness the folly of Primmer House Road before VDOT abandons this fairytale-gone-bad shortcut for commuters.

The "build it and they will come" dream doesn't work in Stafford County, because Maryland Development Co. owes money to VDOT.

Does this mean if Maryland Development Co. never pays, Primmer House Road will never open?

Just who is the Big, Bad Wolf in this nightmare?

Stephen Oertwig

Was is built as a proffer? (posted by jdsdad , Apr. 9, 2008 9:28 pm)
I haven't been keeping up with this, mainly because it's not a short cut for me. But I think that if it was built as a proffer then it belongs to the county until they petition the state to take it over. Does any know if this has been done?

If you can move those jersey barriers by hand, go for it hoss. People were already using the road and that was put to a stop by placing jersey barriers there. Used to be little Road Closed signs held in place by sandbags. Be kinda obivious if a foklift came down thru there in the middle of the night.

So lemme get this straight (posted by Dirtnap300 , Apr. 9, 2008 8:06 am)
VDOT wont take posession of said road until the (now bankrupt) builder can pay for maintenace? WEll that is obviously a stupid plan considering the circumstances. Why dont you just start using the road reguardless. who would mind if those barricades mysteriously moved out of the way in the middle of the night? is the county going to ticked people for using it when it is a legal road just waiting for the paperwork to be completed...

I'm in full agreement. This is ridiculous. It just sits there, and Morton Road is as much of a mess as ever.
