Administrator will leave for Lynchburg to serve as executive director of economic council

Date published: 4/15/2008

K.G. administrator will leave job in May

King George County Administrator Bryan David will leave his job in May to serve as the executive director of the Region 2000 Economic Development Council in the city of Lynchburg.

David said he sent his letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors last night and his last day will be May 15.

Region 2000's Web site says it's an economic development organization covering Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties, the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford, and the town of Altavista.

David called the move a "good career opportunity" and said his family looks forward to returning to Lynchburg, where they lived before coming to King George.

Bone marrow drive slated for Saturday

A 2007 graduate of James Monroe High School needs a bone marrow transplant, and his family and friends will hold a drive next Saturday to find potential donors.

Cedric Hopkins, 19, played basketball at the Fredericksburg high school for four years and learned he had stage four non-Hodgkins lymphoma last August. He has been through chemotherapy and radiation and now needs a transplant.

The drive will be held from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Dorothy Hart Community Center. Potential donors will be checked for a match via cheek swabs.

step right up (posted by Freedrik , Apr. 16, 2008 7:28 am)
Well the county is seeing another turnover in leadership, again! SIX county administrators (2.33 years life expectancy) and one employee playing interim administrator in 14 years, some track record for this board of supervisors. Just what is it a conflict of personalities? The board cannot believe this is good for the county!!!!!

Good bye David.. (posted by freedomfirst , Apr. 15, 2008 3:11 pm)
Now let us not look for a replacement outside the King George Administration. Promote one of your highly paid department heads maybe like the recently appointed economic development director who gets more than 100 grand a year and basicallty just writes progress reports. It's not rocket science to be an administrator you know. Let's save some money. Put it to a vote, see what the people of King George want, after all this is a REPUBLIC where the people tell the hired politicians what to do.
