Productive teamwork ensured Stafford power-line burial

I want to congratulate the Towering Concerns citizen group led by Buddy Secor and Holly Hazard, and the elected Republican leaders Speaker Bill Howell, Del. Mark Cole, former Stafford Supervisor Bob Gibbons, and Supervisors Mark Dudenhefer, Paul Milde, and Cord Sterling, who, through their coordinated effort, ensured the burial of a new power line by Dominion Power.

The power line will run from Aquia Harbour five miles through to Mountain View Road.

Since Dominion's announcement nearly two years ago of installing unsightly overhead cable connectors by steel towers, the grassroots group Towering Concerns has pressured Dominion Power to bury the cable line.

Residents were concerned about health risks, property values, and overall aesthetics of the towers, and they took those concerns to the State Corporation Commission.

Many people were skeptical of success in having the line buried, but with the pressure and leadership of this organized group of concerned residents and Stafford Republicans, the Virginia State Corporation Commission ordered the line to be buried.

This serves as a great example of how grassroots initiative and Republican leadership work together for the betterment of Stafford.
