FROM STAFF REPORTS

The New York Jets waived former Essex High School standout Stacy Tutt yesterday.

Tutt, a former quarterback at the University of Richmond, spent two seasons with the Jets as a reserve fullback. He played in nine games and recorded seven special-teams tackles in 2007 before being placed on injured reserve Nov. 17.

Originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent, Tutt spent the first 13 games of the 2006 season on the practice squad before being activated on Dec. 16, 2006 and contributing on offense and special teams in two games as a rookie.

Meanwhile, former Virginia Tech standouts Vince Hall and Josh Hyman will remain teammates after signing free-agent contracts with the St. Louis Rams yesterday.

Hall, a linebacker, made 404 tackles in four years as a starting linebacker. Hyman caught 82 passes in his career.

Other Hokies who signed free-agent deals yesterday included defensive linemen Kory Robertson (Miami) and Barry Booker (Tennessee) and safety D.J. Parker (Tennessee).

Elsewhere, former Maryland linebacker Erin Henderson joined his brother, E.J., by signing a free-agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Erin Henderson unexpectedly went undrafted after leading the Atlantic Coast Conference in tackles as a junior in 2007.

Five other former Terrapins signed free-agent deals yesterday: guard Andrew Crummey (San Diego), cornerback Isaiah Gardner (Jacksonville), running back Keon Lattimore (Dallas), tight end Joey Haynos (Green Bay) and defensive lineman Carlos Feliciano (New England).
