Gordon K. Edwards
Gordon K. Edwards Jr, 63, of Rhoadesville died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, from a brief illness and organ failure.
G.K. was born and raised in Orange County. Born Nov. 25, 1944, he was the son of Gordon K. Edwards Sr. and Florine Edwards.
G.K. was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Henry and Mattie Lewis Edwards and Howard F. and Edna Ryder; and a grandson, Stephen Caleb Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Frances "Fran" Edwards of Rhoadesville; and his children, Pamela Edwards Smith and her husband, Gary, of Orange County, Loyde Williams Knapp of Lynchburg, and Lynda and Robert Biller of Harrisonburg; and his grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn and Hannah Megan Smith of Orange, and Kristin and Logan Biller of Harrisonburg.
G.K. was working for the Spotsylvania County school system as a mechanic, and had previously worked for the Orange County public school system. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, collecting Civil War relics, and his 1941 Ford sedan. He was an avid fan of the Redskins and NASCAR.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A funeral will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Rhoadesville Baptist Church cemetery in Rhoadesville. The Rev. Nancy Stanton McDaniel and the Rev. John K. Edwards will officiate.
Family night visitation will be held Friday, May 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
