LOCAL RIDER Kelsy
Kelsy who is from Ninde, has shown extensively at area shows and always won firsts and seconds. She has also been a Huntsman with the Commonwealth Foxhounds for several years and has been an active participant in their Hunter Pace races.
She was the 2006 year-end champion of the Virginia Horse Show Associations Large Pony division and placed eighth in the VHSA Pony Medal State Finals. She also won the 2006 Large Pony Championship in the Battlefield Horse Show Association.
After graduation from homeschooling, Kelsy plans to study Animal Science at UT-Martin, while competing and training with the equestrian team. "I am very excited to be joining the team at UT-Martin," said Abell.
The UT-Martin Equestrain Coach, Meghan Cunningham-Corvin feels Kelsy will be a strong competitor because of her polished riding background. "She is also very academic-oriented, which we highly stress," she said.
