James Edmond "Dumpsey" Wright, 88, of Spotsylvania County died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Bowling Green Healthcare Center.

Mr. Wright was an U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the 6th Armored Division. While serving his country, he was wounded in France and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Dumpsey had retired from the FMC Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Scott Wright.

Survivors include his two daughters, Brenda Ogle and her husband, David, of Woodford and Fonda Hannah and her husband, Daniel, of Spotsylvania; one granddaughter, Shayne Ogle Jones and her husband, R.J., of Spotsylvania; two great- granddaughters, Jessica and Amanda Jones; one brother, Leroy A. Wright of Spotsylvania; one sister, Katherine W. Wheeler of Spotsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Coleman and the Rev. Michael Raphael officiating. Burial will follow in Wallers Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 6823 Partlow Road, Spotsylvania, Va. 22551.
