Curious about HOT lanes? Want to know what's being done to find more commuter parking in Stafford County?

A one-stop information session on these topics and on a planned Interstate 95 interchange project, has been set up for Stafford County residents.

The public can learn more at two identical information meetings, scheduled for 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday at Anne E. Moncure Elementary, 75 Moncure Lane.

The school is next to North Stafford's most popular commuter parking lots.

"Our hope is people will just come from their commuter parking spots over to the meeting," said Stafford spokeswoman Cathy Riddle.

Virginia Department of Transportation and Stafford officials will lead the one-hour sessions.

Commuters will learn about the construction schedule for the proposed high occupancy toll lanes on I-95, and how it could affect commuting and parking in Stafford. Officials will also discuss a planned reconstruction of the I-95 Courthouse Road interchange, and how that project may impact commuters. Finally, commuters can learn what's being done to try to find additional parking for carpools, vanpools and slugs in North Stafford.

The public will have a chance to ask questions following the presentations and make comments.

Stafford Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer had the original idea for the sessions. He noticed there was a lot of misinformation circulating about the projects, and he wanted residents to have a chance to comment on them, too.

Dudenhefer said he will stay "as long as people want to vent."
