The Virginia Department of Education's Special Education Draft Regulations will make major cuts to parents' rights to partner with schools in their child's education.
These changes would be a great injustice to the future of any child with an individualized education program or receiving special services.
The proposal removes the parental requirement for partial or full termination of special education or related services.
Why would we be required to sign a permission slip for a field trip but not be required to sign off on our child's future?
I encourage all parents to either attend a public hearing or write a letter in opposition to these proposed changes.
