Quantico wrestlers fall short at trials

Quantico Marine Corps wrestler David Arendt placed third in the 264-pound Greco-Roman challenge division at last weekend's U.S. Olympic Trials in Las Vegas.

Arendt defeated Peter Kowalczuk of Oak Park, Ill., 2-1, 5-0 in the third-place match. Dremiel Byers of Colorado Springs won the division and will represent the U.S. in Beijing.

Another Quantico Marine, Donovan Depatto, finished with a 2-2 record and lost in the 132-pound challenger's bracket consolation semifinals. Former Quantico wrestler Marcel Cooper lost in the consolation semifinals at 145.
