Edna M. Mitchell

Edna Mae Mitchell, 91, of Foneswood went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 16, 2008.

Edna Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Stanford Stafford Mitchell. She also was the widow of James H. Curry.

Survivors include two sons, Roger and his wife, Gay, of Mechanicsville, and Aubrey and his wife, Brenda, of King George County; her daughter, Barbara Vanlandingham of Highland Springs; her six grandchildren, Ann Shipman, Janet Pearce, Glenn Mitchell, Cary Mitchell, Stan Mitchell and Steve Mitchell; four great-grandchildren, Riley Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell Shipman, Jordan Pearce and Austin Pearce; her sisters, Burnette Neufer of Reston and Marjorie Bryant of Warsaw; her brother, Edwin Balderson of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Mae was the postmistress at Foneswood for 49 years and a very active member of Ephesus Christian Church for many years.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Ephesus Christian Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Welch Funeral Home, Montross.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ephesus Christian Church cemetery fund or building fund.
