Redskins will start camp early Date published: 6/20/2008
By ADAM HIMMELSBACH Former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs routinely stayed at the team's training facility in Ashburn through the night, and famously kept a rollaway bed there. But first-year head coach Jim Zorn has said he is more of a morning person, and he prefers to get a good night's sleep at his own home. It is clear that next month, the Redskins and their fans will become morning people too. The team released the list of nine training camp practices that will be open to the public. Eight of them will take place at 8:30 a.m. The opening practice of camp will be held on Sunday, July 20 at 8:30 a.m. The Redskins' training camp starts a week earlier than usual, because the team is playing in the Hall of Fame Game against Indianapolis on Aug. 3. During training camp, there is no charge for admission or parking for the open practices. Parking lots will open 90 minutes before practices begin, and the gates will open 30 minutes later. Starting July 14, scheduling updates will be available on the training camp fan hotline (703/726-7411) or at redskins.com. Adam Himmelsbach: 540/374-5442
