Michael W. Shelton

Michael Wayne Shelton, 37, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Shelton was the co-founder and owner of Shelton's Towing Service and Recovery and the founder of the Southern 4x4 Club. He loved water sports, fishing, four-wheeling and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Violet A. Connelly of King George County; his stepgrandmother, Edith Shelton of Fredericksburg; his girlfriend, Paula Taylor of Stafford County; his brothers, Timmy R. Shelton and his wife, Cindy, of Stafford, and Tony L. Shelton and his wife, Christine, of King George; his half brother, Robert Dale Shelton of Spotsylvania; two nieces; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Shelton.

A funeral will be held Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Mrs. E.T. "Tick" Bourne will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Teenie Bourne, Jim Davis, David Heflin, Howie Weadon, Trey Jett, Junior Otto, Scott Cleveland and Toby Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be owners and operators of the local towing companies.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
