William F. Long
William Francis Long, 59, of Fredericksburg went home to the Lord, Saturday, June 28, 2008.
He was born May 26, 1949, in Jonesville, S.C., a son of William A. Long and Sara Frances Koon Long.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era and Operation Desert Storm, with 30 years of service. He had retired as an air-to-air assistant program manager with NAVAIR. Mr. Long was a member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve Association, the Association of Aviation Ordnancemen, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Mustang Club of America and the Capital Region Mustang Club.
Mr. Long is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Tanya and Paul Woodward of Newport News and Jamie and Brian Chapman of Fairfax County; a brother James W. Long of Jonesville, S.C.; two sisters, Hilda Austin and Ann Murphy, both of Union, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Blayne Woodward. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald E. Long.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment will be at noon Monday, July 14, in Quantico National Cemetery.
