Spotsylvania County sheriff's deputies are searching for a county woman they say dragged a deputy with her car yesterday morning.

1st Sgt. Liz Scott of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said Beverly Williams, 48, of Spotsylvania, is wanted on a charge of felony assault on a law enforcement officer.

The search for Williams began after an incident about 8:20 a.m. yesterday, she said, when a Spotsylvania deputy was called to 11800 Taft Drive in the Salem Church Road area for a landlord/tenant dispute

Scott said when the deputy got to the door, he was pushed away by the woman inside.

The woman then ran to her vehicle and was followed on foot by the deputy, Scott said.

As the deputy attempted to pull her from the car, she closed the door of her vehicle, trapping the deputy, Scott said.

The woman then put the car in drive and rammed forward into the garage before reversing down her driveway and into the road.

Scott said the deputy was then able to release himself from the car and fire two shots as the 1999 Silver Toyota Solara drove from the scene.

She said the back window of the car was broken by one of the shots.

Williams is described as a black woman with a license plate on the Toyota that reads KFE-6427.

Police were on the lookout for Williams throughout the day yesterday, and anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 540/507-7200.

the deputy fired the shots after the car was driving away, was he still in harms way with the car driving away....by no means does it make it right for what the women did she should be put in jail but as for the shots fired by a deputy at a car driving away in a residential neighborhood, not to good if you ask me as we know the shots did not hit the mark so where did they end up in the car or did the bullets keep getting it through the neigborhood. could have possibly hit a inocent person or a child

setting a poor example of civil behavior.

Needs to Spend Long Time in Jail (posted by Dakotadream , July 8, 2008 12:49 pm)
Had my fill of people who think they can do what they want outside of the law and get by with it. People have no respect for law enforcement anymore. I hope she sits in jail for quite some time and is made to pay any medical costs incutred by the police officer.

Thank goodness (posted by VooDoo75 , July 8, 2008 11:16 am)
Glad they caught her before she put someone else's life in danger so selfishly as she did with the police officer.
