Hester Virginia Conard Tenbrook, 96, of Woodbridge passed away Wednesday July 2, 2008, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.
Her son, Raymond, her daughter, Margie, and granddaughter, Cynthia Weakland, were at her side when she slipped away from her earthly bonds to be with God.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Stanley R. Conard and Warren Tenbrook; three brothers, Cletus Funk, Cecil Funk and Melvin Funk; two sisters, Pauline Merryman and Grace German, all of Alexandria; and a granddaughter, Bonnie Smith of Stafford.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Virginia Huffman of Fredericksburg, her caregiver, Raymond Lewis Conard of Woodbridge, Margie Ann Chichester of Fredericksburg, William Franklin Conard of Stafford, Barbara Jean Smith of Spotsylvania, Nancy Lee Hudson of King George and David Lee Conard of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was born and raised in Toms Brook and married Stanley Conard from Rio, W.Va. They moved to Alexandria where their seven children were born and raised. She later married Warren Tenbrook and moved to Portland, Ore. before returning to Virginia to reside with her son Raymond in Woodbridge.
She enjoyed life, was loved by all who knew her, and standing at 4 feet 6 inches tall, was affectionately known as "Little Nanny" by her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 5120 Harrison Road, Fredericksburg, with Miller Funeral Home of Woodbridge handling the arrangements.
