W. Scott Bryant

William Scott Bryant of Spotsylvania County died Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Fredericksburg. He was the husband of Hazel Bryant Bryant.

Born in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley Bryant and the late Daisy Lawhorne Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry W. Bryant.

Scott was a member of Wesleyan United Methodist Church and a retired iron worker for Williams Enterprise with 20 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Beverley B. Davis and her husband, Donald, of Spotsylvania; one son, Stan L. Bryant and his wife, Cari, of Spotsylvania; four grandchildren, Stephanie Cheatham and her husband, Ricky, of Rustburg, Cindy Maddox and her husband, Chad, of Lynchburg, Scottie Davis and his wife, Dawn, and Shelby Bryant, all of Spotsylvania; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 27, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 16.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
