We can go to war, but we can't help our seniors

July 28, 2008 12:15 am

Mr. Bush and our leaders can spend hundreds of billions on an unwanted war when there will never be any peace in that part of the world.

They can spend billions every year feeding and giving medical help to other countries. These countries cannot feed their children, but people keep having them by the dozens.

But our federal government cannot find the billions to support seniors on Medicare who need medications, especially those who have no other insurance.

Our medical supplier has notified us that we will no longer receive the medication we need to help us breathe.

My wife has severe lung problems. Every four hours, she has to take a mixture of ipratropium and albuterol sulfate in a small capsule. That is about a teaspoon.

Now we are supposed to mix it ourselves, since Mr. Bush and Medicare have decided we can do that.

I think that it is going to be a great problem.

Also on the agenda for Mr. Bush and Medicare is the stopping of payment for oxygen machines needed for seniors, such as my wife, who depend on them.

If they stop paying for this machine, they are signing the death warrant for a lot of very sick people.
