Virginia W. Frye

Virginia W. Frye, 87, of Roanoke, formerly of Colonial Beach died Thursday, July 31, 2008, in Roanoke.

She was the widow of John J. Frye.

Mrs. Frye had retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren. She was very active in church work at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. She was active in the Toastmistress Club, NARFE and the local hospice organization. She loved to travel, and spend time with her many friends in Colonial Beach.

Mrs. Frye is survived by five sons, John Frye Jr., Richard Frye and James Frye, all of Roanoke, George Frye and his wife, Georgia, of Lynchburg and Joseph Frye and his wife, Janice, of Fredericksburg; her twin sister, Dorothy W. Rothgeb of Crofton, Md.; her sister-in-law, Mariella Frye; and seven grandchildren, Chris Frye, Anthony Frye, Jason Frye, Trevor Frye, Daniel Frye, John Frye and Meredyth Frye.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Colonial Beach, with Fr. John Ziegler officiating. Burial will take place in Historyland Memorial Park, King George. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.
