Four people have been arrested in connection with a couple of drive-by purse snatchings Sunday in Fredericksburg.
The incidents occurred about 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Wal-Mart in Central Park, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
A Stafford woman told police she was pushing her shopping cart toward her vehicle when a silver Mazda approached her and slowed down.
The passenger reached out and grabbed the purse, which was in the up- per basket and wrapped around her wrists.
The woman struggled, but the purse was pulled from her hands as the vehicle accelerated away. She was not injured.
The license-plate number of the vehicle was given to police, and a lookout was broadcast to the surrounding jurisdictions, Bledsoe said.
Meanwhile, Bledsoe said, a second woman was inside the store reporting that a similar incident had just happened to her. In that case, the woman was able to hold on to her handbag.
The suspects' vehicle was stopped a short time later by Spotsylvania and Caroline deputies on southbound Interstate 95 near the Ladysmith exit.
Two young men and two young women were in the vehicle. Witnesses were brought to the scene and identified one man as the primary aggressor in the first attempt and the other as the passenger who snatched the Stafford woman's purse.
The purse was recovered in the vehicle, along with items that might connect the suspects to crimes in other localities, Bledsoe said.
Cherish Perry, 18, of Ruther Glen and Lashiba Budd, 26, of Bowling Green were charged with conspiracy to rob.
Donovan Manigault, 21, and Joshua Ferguson, 18, both of Bowling Green, were charged with strong-arm robbery.
All four were placed in the Rappahannock Regional jail under no bond.

Purse snatching in broad daylight in Walmart parking lot on a Sunday afternoon with your license plate showing? And it took four of them to come up with this heist? HA HA HA! What a bunch of losers!
