This is not 'American Idol'! Palin is a bad choice

I have been an independent thinker and voter since I began to vote many years ago.

I have tried to make my decisions based on critically evaluating the positions of all of the candidates, not just responding to the character assassinations from both sides.

With that in mind, I believe that Sen. McCain's decision to choose Sarah Palin as his vice president shows a serious lack of judgment.

She may be a competent and intelligent woman (however troubling her views on evolution and global warming are), but she is not ready to be vice president.

We are not selecting a winner on "American Idol." We are picking someone who has no foreign policy understanding, nor an understanding of the decisions, made by President Bush, that led us into one of the most crucial times in our history.

These are serious times, and they demand serious solutions.

Have I done something to offend you? The fact you call my thoughts, my freedom of speech, inane and ridiculous. If I was in St. Louis County, MO, I might be censured and even prosecuted! The fact that I hope people educate themselves rather than look at all that is posted on both sides of the aisle is truly all I hope to do.

Have I really only written once? (posted by ProudAFWife , Sep. 29, 2008 6:22 pm)
http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2008/092008/09282008/411166/index_html I had an interesting debate last night. Sorry if I can't avail myself to these message boards daily.

I actually don't spend much time on Youtube...I am way too busy (with the exception of a late night last night), being a full time mom, a full time student, and caregiver to my Dad, a Vietnam vet who has been diagnosed with ALS. Thanks to a few Republicans, he will now get full benefits from the VA without question. I found that Youtube interesting, because so many look at today's issues without realizing what led us into this mess. History has taught us we must look at the past to understand our future.

ProdAFWife seems to get all her information straight from you tube. The stuff she posts ( from youtube, always ) is inane, ridiculous and shows no actual thought of her own. I see now she finally wrote her own words, I'm less than impressed though because she has only written something once and yet posts a bunch of youtube video links. Suzuki is another one who only offers a quick derogatory soundbite before leaving each time.

I don't consider myself a right-winger (posted by ProudAFWife , Sep. 29, 2008 1:20 pm)
I went to Bill Clinton's inauguration back in 1992. Though I wasn't able to vote, I was excited. I joined the military in 1994 and saw many of the seasoned leadership being FORCED out of the military due to downsizing of our fighting force. Bill Clinton was a huge disappointment for me, personally. I now choose to look at all angles and see how things fit into the BIG picture, not just what I'm being told happens today.
