Pumpkins: Pretty pricey today

October 12, 2008 12:17 am

Since when is charging $14 per person to go to a pumpkin patch "family-friendly"? And taking kids to the movies has long been out of the picture.

What is a struggling family to do that doesn't have hundreds of extra dollars lying around to entertain their kids?

The best I can do for mine right now is a kid's meal and the free time he can spend in the fast food restaurants' play areas while we eat.

Come on, Fredericksburg. Look around; people are struggling. I think local businesses need to step into the real world for a bit and see that the money isn't there like it used to be.
