Time for a 'new Day' in Washington

Time for a 'new Day' in Washington

I recently met Bill Day, who is running to represent the 1st District of Virginia in the House of Representatives.

I'm impressed with his positions on issues such as stopping the waste of tax dollars by giving tax breaks and credits to the super-rich, large corporations, and the oil companies that have made obscene profits.

His opponent, Rep. Rob Wittman, is so hypnotized by the ideological mantra of "no new spending" that he voted against expanding the veterans' G.I. bill, while voting to keep tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations who ship jobs overseas.

Bill Day uses his spare time to help others--by building houses for the needy with Habitat for Humanity and Mend a House. After Hurricane Katrina, he traveled several times to Mississippi to help the folk there.

Please vote for Bill Day on Nov. 4. Enough is enough of this perverse, reverse Robin Hood madness--taking from the middle class in order to give to the rich.

corporate world v. fed government (posted by AmericanMod , Oct. 29, 2008 2:58 pm)
The Dems generally want at least enough government to keep a track of corporate activity and ensure that taxation is fair. What we have witnessed in the past 8 years is major tax breaks for American corporations (least that move overseas - how patriotic), paultry token tax breaks for the middle class as some type of bribe - all while military expenditures sky rocketed on borrowed Chinee money. Does anyone see a problem and hypocricy here? Everyone will have to pay more for Bush's love of war.

Typical Liberal Viewpoint (posted by scrnatic , Oct. 29, 2008 8:08 am)
Giving a tax break or credit is a waste of tax dollars??? Too funny. Oh, yes, this is money that could be used for bigger, better gov't programs. Yes, let's tax those evil corporations. Higher capital gains taxes, massive windfall profit taxes. Use the money for bigger gov't and more handouts. Then blame the loss of jobs on Republicans. Fortunately, the 1st district is still a representative slice of main-stream America and has enough collective wisdom to return Rob Wittman to Congress.

Change (posted by hpdomi , Oct. 29, 2008 5:42 am)
I agree, Ms. King. Bill Day will be a refreshing change to the House. I urge everyone to vote for him--let's stop the gridlock and bring new people to get our country back on the positive track.
