The Virginia Department of Transportation has opened two new park-and-ride lots near the town of Culpeper.
The first is a 25-space lot at the U.S. 29/State Route 3 interchange. It was constructed on VDOT's right of way in the northwest corner of the interchange at Rabbit Run.
The second lot is an expansion of the existing park-and-ride facility at the intersection of U.S. 29 and State Route 663 at Brandy Station.
The new lot is on the north side of Route 663 just west of the intersection. It adds approximately 30 spaces to the 18 parking slots that have been available on the south side for two decades.
Both facilities have room for further expansion if there is a need in the future.
The new lots are part of VDOT's initiative to make it easier for commuters and others to share transportation and reduce the number of vehicles using Virginia's highways.
